I literally have the address of the perpetrator and they won't do anything.

I do have some lessons learned on security. Since the garage robberies started we've been turning on the alarm most nights. Forgot to this night. Could have done a few things to make it harder to get into the garage.

But again, angle grinder defeats all of this. And my chains could keep a cargo ship on a dock. If criminals are not afraid, then no security will work.

I've lived in SF for 15 years. I've put up w/ a lot of crap to live here. Never thought I would leave. But I've definitely got Redfin open with burbs tabs on. I can't raise kids in an environment where I don't feel safe in my own home.

Recalling Chesa Boudin is the bare minimum we can do. We need more cops and more consequences. Talk to me about getting to the "root cause of crime" after your home's been invaded.

But honestly, the root cause of this is not a policy tweak. It's radical progressivism. It's the abandonment of basic standards across all of SF. It's the demonization of success and the lionization victimhood.

It's the deep guilt progressives feel over telling someone with victim status that they're behaving badly.

It's ultimate the belief that all evil on earth is the result of poorly implemented government systems or the greed of the oppressor class. This idealism goes way back to the French Revolution and I don't expect to solve it here.

But I do hope some minds may be changed once a bad man is in your house. And I do hope it doesn't go farther than a few thousand dollars of bike.

Final note: Thanks to
@garrytan@DavidSacks@michelletandler@micsolana@safersfnoboudin@ManKitLam4 and others. These people likely put up with unimaginable shit for saying stuff as simple as crimes should have consequences. You guys give me a bit of hope.24 replies 11 retweets 334 likesShow this thread
Crimes should have consequences but don’t ask @HillaryRonen @chesaboudin or @LondonBreed
