Got my first copyright strike today. AuxiliaryMode was apparantly not happy enough with taking the one dollar per year that I made off the video. All of that over Stormswept from 1995, a movie with 107 votes on IMDB,an obscurity that you would think would benefit of more coverage
Would be so nice if @TeamYouTube could say if making a 5-8min video review of a movie, using edited clips from the movie is allowed or not. I can't see how its not by reading the fair use laws and by seeing what bigger channels than mine does.

I don't really care if the companies decide to take all the income from my video reviews, but having to fear that my channel and all the work I've done for it is in danger is incredibly demotivating.

Your best resource will be the Copyright section of our Help Center, start with these top FAQs: https://goo.gl/FzBC2x . You can also review info on fair use, creative commons, and our troubleshooter linked from there. Hope these resources help answer your questions.

Thank you for answering quick on a Saturday out of all days. It didn't help much though as the written laws are one thing, and I know them, but how it works in practice on your platform does not match.
