Confirmed FUD - ... our text classifier entity recognition service. We’ve built it with user privacy in mind, and the ML processing happens completely on the device, not on a backend server. SOURCE:https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2019/05/whats-new-in-android-q-beta-3-more.html?m=1 …

So Google writes a blog saying "trust us" and I'm FUDding? I'm still waiting fir Signal to respond that they have researched this and borne it out. Until then, I'm doubtful. Tell me, when you turn off Location aservices, do they still constantly track your location?

Confirmed how? The keyboard is suggesting words that you’ve never typed but are contained in Signal messages you received?
-
The OS is suggesting full replies to messages. They added a 'assistant' feature that is on by default.
@ScyneWaive replied with a good writeup. I'm gonna see if I can block it while it's on. Google never actually stops collecting data even when you turn it off (see location SVC)pic.twitter.com/LkqmwbcQgH

I don't think your signal "messages are being scraped". You must've turned on suggested actions feature for notifications which reads notifications and provides actions/replies. It can be turned off. Much less nefarious than what you suggest.
-
Just like location services can be turned off, right? Zero trust that they stop collecting and anylizing just because you turned the feature off for yourself?

This is an Android feature called "Smart Replies." https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2019/05/whats-new-in-android-q-beta-3-more.html … From Google's blog post: "We’ve built it with user privacy in mind, and the ML processing happens completely on the device, not on a backend server."

You can disable this Android feature here: Android settings > Apps & notifications > Notifications > Advanced > Suggested actions and replies You can also adjust what is displayed in your Signal notifications in your Signal settings.

Based on the replies here Carl seems most of the skepticism may come from twitter not being the best place to easily and fully explain you position. I see what you are saying and tbh am not shocked.

Truth. It is terrible for ANYTHING that requires an explanation. It intentionally fractures any message, creating forced breaks in a complete thought. This is amplifiedif you are composing as you type. It is a literal combative argument generating machine.
