The push to return to normal is also depressing when you consider how counter-revolutionary it is to want a pre 2020 life back instead of viewing the pandemic’s disruption of stasis as a portal into a new world built around keeping all of us safe, fed, housed, cared for, free.

You mean the same police used to evict individuals and families? You mean the same police used to clear encampments like garbage? You mean the same police who will arrest you for sex work or addiction? Those are the police you see as potential partners in resolving homelessness?

No, I don’t believe police should be at the table or receive funding as local systems strategize to address homelessness. It plays into the idea, the myth really, that police serve or protect the most marginalized and vulnerable despite all the evidence to the contrary.

i care and im ok with that. im sensitive and im ok with that. life moves me in such a way that i feel everything. and i’m ok with that. i am ok with being in touch with the important things. i’ve created a safe space within myself for me to be vulnerable and truly feel

The homeless crisis in San Diego is getting very serious now. It's impacting people's Padres game experience at Petco. Now, maybe something will be done to keep people from dying on our streets so people can enjoy going to the games.

San Diego's homeless problem seems to get worse by the day. It's a JARRING difference even from 1 year ago along 10th and 11th downtown. It's really starting to effect the @padres #petco experience also, which is a shame. It's not easy, but we gotta do better. @MayorToddGloria

It should probably bother more people that the US government withholds free college and healthcare as a military recruitment strategy and maintains high levels of incarceration as a source of free labor. and they do so openly, without an ounce of shame.

Gave out more tents today to people who've had theirs thrown away by the . I'm getting low on supplies. You can help get more supplies to people here: gofundme.com/f/gzcuv-homele

Last week, a San Diego cop saw me giving out tents and bragged that he can throw them out faster than I can give them out. Well, he might be right, but that's not going to stop me from trying to help people.

4 years ago at my first Pride🥹 I wish I could jump into this photo and tell baby queer Chyann that it’s gonna be ok. That their uncertainty and fear won’t last forever and that someday they’re gonna love themselves so much, so might as well start now.

We are headed straight into a colossal disaster in #SanDiego as the baby boomers age. Loss of care taker & companion of 27 yrs & an eviction with no where to go. Hospital discharges from Alvarado, Scripps, & UCSD without a safety net in place. gofund.me/89f0f08a

Elliot Page is their name, not their “preferred name”
Quote Tweet
Deeply funny to get mad at Elliot Page for acting under his preferred name when almost every single actor uses a pseudonym for their stage name and no one cares.

The "I'm not celebrating the 4th of July because our country is trash right now" posts are cringe-level 3,000. It's been a mess for a long long time. People have been denied agency, bodily autonomy, and freedom for a long long time. It just never affected you personally before.

I cannot express enough how adults not respecting children’s boundaries really bothers me. You need to treat children as human beings, not property & not someone who has to do what you say because you’re an adult.

Tents help but this is better. I gave Brandy a tent and some other supplies after the City threw her belongings out recently. Shortly after, with the help of , got her into her hotel program. Help her out if you can.

Those men were at the constitutional convention on stolen land writing about "freedom" while eating meals prepared by the human beings they owned. Some chewed and swallowed that food with teeth stolen from someone else's mouth. And we were taught in school to call them "fathers."

“Elections have consequences” should be a condemnation of a government and Court that handles human rights like a sick chess game, not a cruel scapegoating of people who are vulnerable and disempowered.
