This is an absolutely brilliant piece of unparalleled genius, the like of which has never been seen. All other columnists should be shot. Case closed.

We are more than capable of that without Twitter thank you very much. Sycophancy, hyperbole, and cruelty are standing agenda items for most department meetings.

Personally, I have learned to be way more open, critical to sources, and investigative in my online and IRL behavior from Twitter. But I guess that's just me 🚶‍♂️

If you're going to subtweet @KevinMKruse, at least have the common decency to @ him.

Serious question: who is Gordon Fraser? I'm not being snide or sarcastic--it's just that I have no idea who this person is, despite him apparently being based on my own state. If academics want to connect with the public, they need to go where the public can be found.

Are you still going on about how academics are being mean when they dunk on idiots with large following for getting basic historical facts wrong? Do you need @KevinMKruse to come in and spank you again? Does it bother you when white supremacists are wrong on the internet?

I find other academic spaces such as the WPA listserv far more impatient, cruel, and dull. Twitter can be very vibrant, open, accessible, and inspiring.
