supposedly there are 2 anatomically separate ways of doing undertone singing (vocal fry vs using false cords) and i cant tell which im doing (or if im switching between them)
i think i default to vocal fry since it usually feels like just extending my speaking vocal fry in the same way i get singing from speech, but i think i accidentally do something else sometimes? (if the difference is real which im still a bit skeptical)

its very fun to combine with overtone singing (see old thread) since youre making buzzier sound with whatever anatomy (less pure sine wave, more harmonics) and since the fundamental is lower you can get higher order harmonicshttps://twitter.com/chromalisque/status/1069447406037725184 …

(thats what kargyraa singers do i think (although ive read they specifically use the ventricular folds not vocal fry)) (also heres a lady combining under and overtone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-JnXRaQS3E …)

anyway its very fun i havent been practicing much but ive recently been able to get 3:1 undertones and walk up to 16:1 overtones semi reliably. i still think it should be taught more widelyhttps://twitter.com/chromalisque/status/1069427336666378241 …
