Book clubs are weird. They do multiple jobs simultaneously: They motivate you. They offer a pretense for socializing and showing off. They do some quality control on the books. They let you sanity-check your interpretation. They surface related ideas that aren't in your brain.

Yeah. I'm sure some of the value requires meeting in-person. But the internet should help us solve many of the traditional coordination problems.
