(1) student asks prof if they believe their famous 'impossible' experimental result was real. prof says no, the weight of probability lies on the side of spurious signal, but they still believe a real signal will someday be found
(2) student asks algorithms prof if they've tried to solve p vs np. they say yes, and mostly not out of arrogance; in fact they recommend new researchers spend a month thinking seriously about it, to understand the obstacles and satisfy themselves nothing obvious was overlooked

(3) famous emeritus prof describes the work that won him the prize as 'tinkering', he just happened to get his machine working before anyone else. mentions he used to drink ln2 as a party trick, offers demonstration. students do not encourage this. he does it anyway, is fine
