it seems unlikely theres a defensible notion of what an artist/work 'deserves' under which theres a redistribution of attention that gets everyone there

like this is not original and its not to say ppl should stop making stuff its just i dont know what to make of various laments or rants about whatever tier of indieness or obscurity that dont grapple with this

im saying this all in kind of a weird way bc i still imagine my interlocutor mishearing it as 'theres too much new stuff' or 'if you want an audience then obey the market'

all i mean is what imaginary interlocutor advocates is literally not possible, so what is supposed to happen. but i suppose it doesnt really matter when any appeal is at most a tiny nudge toward it. and theres a lot of room to uncontroversially improve distribution/discovery so
