Apple just confirmed to me that lossless audio is *exclusive to Apple Music.* Subscription required.
There won’t be an option to purchase tracks or albums in that quality, nor will it be offered with iTunes Match.

So in summary, in one day, the streaming music industry has made lossless audio at $9.99 per month the new norm. Amazon got out ahead of Apple by mere minutes. theverge.com/2021/5/17/2244
Buying digital music is dead, etc. etc.

I suspect the only thing that is "exclusive to Apple Music" is ALAC. The music will already be available from many services in FLAC.

Oh, of course. Wasn’t trying to imply that lossless audio itself was exclusive 😂
Plus this lets HDTracks, Qobuz, etc. remain the spots to *buy* lossless tracks.

Aw darn. Hopefully lossless purchases and possible upgrades for past purchases may happen eventually.

Damn. At least Bandcamp has that option.

Lol fuck music streaming. Ive owned most of my music forever I know it's crazy, but it's mine, is higher quality and I just throw it on Plex and it's available anywhere will all my other media. I've been snatching up any music files my friends have on old drives and it's glorious
