1/2 Truth: SF “leaders” & nonprofits WANT this city to be disgusting & dangerous. they don’t desire safety, beauty, cleanliness, & economic vibrancy. they want filth, tents, crime, insanity, & addiction. knowing this, we move forward & change everything.
Yep. We need longer term solutions. The city built 140% of its luxury housing market demand and now we have thousands upsom thousands of vacant condos and skyline apartments with no one living in them. We don’t have a housing crisis... we have an affordable housing crisis.

Ok. That is interesting... but that’s not controversial assessment .... what do you think is happening in a situation where median rent has crept up well over $3k per month? And condo prices above $1M?

Once you understand that then you can chip away at the issue by looking closely at the failure of the market to address those folks with low, middle and fixed incomes. Our housing development practices need to reorient towards affordable housing production goals.

@theodore_gordon@SFyimby@yimbyaction@cayimby , Any comments on whether we have managed to build to 140+% of our housing demand, in this most expensive real estate market I know this cannot be accurate, but I wonder if you might have pointed statistics for@christinevans ? -
We built 140% of our minimum housing production goal for high income demanded by the state. These minimum goals were created during the last recession, so didn't account for low jobs projections. But this number is constantly touted as if we can't plainly see a housing shortage.

The city builds very little itself. Those units got approved by the city and built by devolopers, because the city values revenue (fees, taxes etc) over actual results. Further, the dept of homelessness @SF_HSHis sitting on $26M and is not delivering. “We” don’t have anything.
