can I safely assume that everyone rehearses potential conversations in their head all the time, for fun? like you make up a potential convo with someone and practice different angles/delivery modes and such? this is just a universal human experience, right??

I never do this. Except for an interview or break up maybe. Practice different angles? Delivery modes?? Maybe I would be more socially successful if I did!!1 reply 0 retweets 3 likes -

I do have alot of conversations/thoughts in my head but with myself, maybe they take the same function

it’s very similar! except i think pretending like you’re talking to someone places more of an emphasis on things like social cues, how you’d speak based on your relationship to that person, nonverbal cues, etc which might not be a focus when just dialoguing w/ yourself!

wow I feel like I unlocked a new tool haha so you like, imagine yourself looking over your shoulder to say something, vs saying it with your back to them, etc?

yes sometimes I get pretty detailed like that! i’ll come up with a person (someone I know or made up), a setting (coffee shop, walking at park), a topic, their position, my argument, how we feel (laughing? serious?) etc and then just let my imagination flow and see where it goes

this feels very similar to how I talk with my parts for IFS practice! Do you then try to recreate that in real life with that person?
