a friend told me he has an "ongoing map" in his head when we drive around places, like a birdseye view of yourself traveling around in a location. this blew my mind & also made me better at directions

i do something that's slightly different: when i find myself "practicing" a conversation before it happens i often scrap it and refuse to use it because i realize it may sound rote and inauthentic to the flow of an extant convo both people will actually enjoy
