it is striking to see the difference in representation of Asian men in American vs Chinese media, the guys are so fucking hot in Chinese tv shows, Wong kar wai films etc, vs ‘weird funny short man’ roles, it makes you think what image we are fed as Asian American women

Another way to see it is as: Chinese and other Asian media trying to make their heroes look nice-looking white. There's nothing wrong with ordinary Asians. Although tbh the typical white person isn't that good looking either lol maybe all media is the problem

Idk!!! I have been watching a lot of Chinese film lately and the guys do not seem white washed to me, they are Asian hot not “nice looking white”. I’ve been mulling over this & am going to make diagram with pics to demonstrate, stay tuned

Also there's probably some variability. Not too long ago Filipino celebrities had a tendency to be tall, have fair skin and a western nose. Maybe times have changed. Dunno.
