I try to have a mental model or metaphor for my designs. It does a lot for getting people on the same page, clarifying which elements belong and which don't, and generally helps your design "make sense".

when critiquing a page: ask yourself, what is the story being told as the user moves down the page?

Consider 3 kinds of responses: visceral, behavioral, and reflective. Which are you designing for? Are you aiming for a fleeting moment of joy? trying to get user to buy something? To adopt a new value or sense of identity? I find this terminology helpful when discussing designs

Inclusivity & Accessibility: Don't just ask "How might we" also ask "For who might we". Clear heading hierarchy makes for easier tabbing for keyboard users. Try to left align & keep related elements close together for people who zoom in 400%.

Asset vs Deficit model: When working with copy, consider, are you making the user feel like there is something wrong with them? Or are you making sure they feel supported and that they have the opportunity to shine?

Figma is extremely powerful, familiarizing myself with auto layout, component variants, interactive elements, and shortcuts has made my life 10000x easier haha

If you allow too much feedback, your design will no longer make sense... remember that mental model/framework & make sure the feedback you are accepting does not turn your design into a pile of crap. Otherwise you have to answer for it later lol

For refusing feedback, I say "hmmm" "let me think about it" "let me try that out and get back to you" "let me check with my team" OR if you have your thoughts together give a clear & articulate rebuttal with your design rationale
