There’s something extremely stabilizing about having multiple hobbies/interests/areas that you identify with, traits that create a net that allow for flex and rise where another lowers

It’s helpful for alleviating envy & insecurity (helps you realize you are a kaleidoscope of things that no one can hope to imitate), stimulates your curiosity and brings you into acquaintance with different social worlds

And makes it way less devastating to your sense of self when you fail or disaster strikes in one area. You are able to soften the blow with other sources of self esteem
