I see this happen in areas like visual design, aesthetics, emotions, perception, subjective inner experiences. You can say "this looks weird" or "feels off" but then it's like there's nothing else to add ?

And I want to play with that a little because it feels overly dismissive, and can create blind spots in our awareness. It's like, "oh who knows what to think about X, it's all too subjective". But you can actually break X down into smaller, more objective pieces

So you chip away and find different factors that make up the subjective thing, and hopefully it becomes less nebulous. And sometimes the thing is less “off” than you thought, it was actually because you harbored some unrelated fears that got transferred to this issue.
