Internal Family Systems people - is it possible for different parts to be at different developmental stages? Say a part is quite young/created in early childhood - would that part be limited to the developmental stage at the time it emerged?

It sounds like either that part is partially dissociated away by itself or another part is partially blocking it.
oh god IFS can get so overwhelming... thinking of parts having subparts, or how parts can dissociate away by / from themselves...

Heh, is it really that overwhelming? IMO usually in IFS, all kinds of "fog" means dissociation. But sometimes a part just seems blurry or kinda vague visually and that usually doesn't seem to indicate much, perhaps that the part is a bit distant.

If there's any doubt, it's often a good idea to ask "If there is a part present that's trying to block me from accessing <target part>, could that part please step aside for a bit" and check if anything changes.
