"It’s going to take a lot of work over several years, but hopefully not only will we see an abundance of plants and wildlife on the site, we’ll also be able to use it to show people just how important wetlands, like wet meadows, are to us all."

Lots of work being done to plant new forests and green our cities. But what about rural hedges? What is going to happen when these trees growing tall through the hedgerows die? No young trees being encouraged to take their place. We need to grow and plan for hedgerow trees now.

In 1999 the UK government declared that peat should be less than 10% of all growing media by 2010 and end sales of peat-based compost by 2010. But in 25 Year Environment Plan it states 'Government remains signed up to phasing out peat use altogether by 2030'!

Interesting to hear the use of for gardening being discussed on . I do research on restoring , especially in Canada, where each extraction site is the size of a town. Find it hard to understand why amateur gardeners still use peat composts.

I definitely support this campaign. Can’t recommend enough too who deliver fresh to my doorstep every week in recyclable, environmentally friendly glass bottles. Other milkmen (and women!) are available also...

It's ! Let's show our appreciation for wetlands - the superheroes of the natural world! We rely on them for food, medicines, providing homes for our wildlife, protecting our cities, cleaning our water, & controlling our climate!

State of Florida buys 20,000 acres of the to protect it from oil drilling! Brilliant move, though how oil drilling could even be considered in this area is beyond crazy.

Fantastic aspiration for the new decade to restore England's upland wilderness. Blanket bogs are England's 'rainforest', storing carbon, reducing flood risk and supporting wonderful biodiversity

Fantastic feedback! Great to see folk taking action to ensure we have full-height hedgerow trees! But highlights the need for a concerted national effort (maybe through ?) to ensure mature trees are replaced over time in our hedges. We need hedgerow trees for the future!

My favourite tree-lined lane on the border near today, . These marvellous oaks loom over my in true horror story style. I love 'em but you're right, the oldies are culled but I seen no new ones planted. Some do naturally but few.
