Just remembering the time when I worked for and Jared O'Mara threatened to have me arrested for asking him in parliament where he'd been and whether his constituents deserved a new MP. Wild times.

Bellway warn reservation rate has dropped by 31.7% with weaker private demand partial offset by accelerating sales of social homes. Cancellation rate up to 20% from 13%. Fuller picture below.

A murmuration of brick in Wickham, Hampshire of 1648. This has to be one of my favourite brick buildings. A glorious attempt at a polite frontage in a vernacular building is made all the more divine by its idiosyncrasies. Full of personality. #throwbackthursday

The cognitive dissonance of building a home in Las Vegas sprawl that reflects your love of Europe's human-scaled urbanism is an irony I fear I will never understand. (Red is home location)

4.9 million non-dependent children lived in the parental home in March 2021 - an increase of 14.7% since 2011.
The largest increase was for those aged 25 to 29.

New data out showing the rise in young adults living at home. "Non-dependent children" is how the census categorises them. But I'd call them young, or even middle aged, adults living with parents because they can't afford a home of their own. This isn't progress.

A 14.7% increase in young adults living with parents in just 10 years highlights the extent of the housing crisis in England and Wales - you can see the increase in numbers right up to the age of 45 in the chart here. twitter.com/ONS/status/162โฆ

Seriously??? Thereโs a planning application for doublesided digital ads in the middle of the pavement outside . When I first saw the proposed location I didnโt think it was genuine. This is awful. Why such an obstruction?

The other day my neighbor said to me, "You know, everyone's miserable. Most days." Said it to me 3+ times over the last year.
I was puzzled, most days I savor our time on Earth
Then you see these articles. THIS is what ppl think the two avenues of living are? Holy shit

and I'm thinking about this because an ad for an "ethical" smartphone hacked me off.
you know what is ethical? proper regulation of manufacturing processes across the whole supply chain, right-to-repair laws, and strong incentives to avoid software bloat (read: tracking and ads)

the main reason any smartphone from the last decade has become slow to the point of being unusable is because of software bloat. the amount of computing power in a typical smartphone is on par with what entire desktop computers would struggle to do even just a few years ago

This chart (which is floating around Twitter) is slowly driving me insane because of the (unstated) implication that decarbonization is incompatible with wealth.
The use of log scales hides the fact that the UK consumes less electricity per capita than China and is 4x as rich!
