I know the last thing Twitter needs is another thread, but I owe it to the immigrant recruits who talked to me for this story - sometimes despite fear that it might hurt their status - to make sure it doesn't get buried in today’s craziness. /1

Trump’s steel policy, while totally absurd, is nowhere near as pernicious as his equally absurd climate policy. But the latter has an entire political party behind it so it gets treated more respectfully in the press.

It's worth revisiting this classic profile of Donald Trump in which Sam Nunberg is featured prominently. Trump fired Nunberg over the piece before hiring him back (and then firing him again, and then rehiring him, and then firing him again):

  21. To the extent Nunberg is doing something intentional and rational (I'm skeptical that's the case, but if he is) there's really no better way to get a message to the President than what he's doing today.
