How about people actually read the DOJ settlement? Because the DOJ announced the RBS settlement late last week but no, the MSM opted to obsess about Trump’s tweets. This is the largest settlement in historyhttps://twitter.com/spicyfiles/status/1031314129183797248?s=21 …

This was a missed opportunity under Obama. The New Deal's banking reforms came about because the ground had been prepped by the Pecora investigations, which hauled prominent bankers like JP Morgan before the Senate and showed they'd shirked taxes and cut deals for friends.

“Missed opportunity” is woefully naive (or cynical, not sure). It was a major part of his pitch to Wall St. when he ran in 2008 and, one imagines, a major reason he raised more money from Wall St than McCain did.

It was a missed opportunity for the nation. I’m not absolving Obama of blame for his inaction and his decisions. But thanks for giving me the most uncharitable reading possible.

I don't think the Democratic Party needs to start flirting with broadly popular ideas that could also mitigate or prevent future disasters.

My biggest beef as well. And the banks just partied with the bailout money. When everyone was losing their ass, they were buying yachts and airplanes.
