Chris Lake’s posts

I know you're all talking about this, but let me add my 2 cents. I've been lucky to watch you put these 2 albums together over the last few years. Your passion and craft is unbelievably infectious and inspiring and I feel very fortunate to have peered behind the Curtain…

Were you as swaggy as this kid at 3 years old? Probably not. I love this scene and making people dance, but sometimes music steps out and reaches ears you don’t expect it to resonate with and it’s so rewarding! Go kid go!!!

Was going to play longer until that prick flung that drink, so instead I wrapped up on time and bounced. Still had a great time though. Everyone else was epic. Why anyone thinks it's a good idea to throw things like that is beyond me.

@chrislake you deserve better than this 😡

So this genre called House Music has been around since the 1980's. So many people love it, but most people seem to have WILDLY different thoughts about what todays form of house music really is. So it's made me question...... .....what do YOU think House Music is?

Finish a track, love it, sit on it, tweak it, totally change it, start to hate it, shelve it, forget it, find it, love it, rejig it, remix it, test it, love it, mix it, tweak it, mix it, tweak it, tweak it, master it, change the kick, tweak it, doubt it all, release it.

175,000 people today are flying home from Vegas today, while avoiding all social media until they get home, then ordering junk food and watching Game of Thrones in bed whilst questioning all decisions they’ve made over the last 4 days.

Man, I gotta tell you something about last night at Hard Summer. You know, firstly, wow, thank you so much for so many of you turning out to dance with me. It's a pretty humbling experience getting to perform to people like you every weekend. I try not to take it for granted.

We’ve heard it said in countless songs, but genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, I do like that bass deep down low.

Shout out to the occasional miserable bastard that stands alone in the front row of shows, surrounded by happy ppl, staring at me for the duration of my set like I’ve bitten the head off their kitten. I don’t know why you are there but I appreciate you. I TRY to make you dance.

With everything that's happened this year, it's really made me want to throw the biggest humanly possible house event(s) in N.America. Dunno where. Dunno how. Marking this tweet though as a statement of intent that it will happen. Goodnight.

It feels slightly surreal to know that in 48 hours I get to make people dance again in real life. I'm very thankful things are opening up again. Much needed by so many of us right now.

Haha this is epic. My Sister found this in my niece’s work she brought home for the end of her school year. I think the picture is pretty accurate huh :)

Thank you Las Vegas!!! was a very very memorable one. Can’t believe how many of you came out to dance with me. These are the shows that remind me how far this scene has come in America and I’m proud to be a small part of that. Thank you again.

Why is it always easier to just write a new idea than take the time to finish the last 5% of a track? I keep putting off finishing several tracks because of this and it's SOOOOO dumb.

Can someone help me understand the real justification of these charges on shows? Really. It’s a joke.

Stay With Me - Alright so finally, this song is out. Let me give you a little background about this puppy. So I was chilling with Gita (my wife) at the beginning of the week leading up to the Shrine shows I was away to play with Fisher in February. smarturl.it/BBR_StayWithMe

Jealously is something that is rampant in our industry. These words from Patrice Baumel should be read by all. Get rid of negative thinking and stay positive. Thank you Patrice.

So I've been in this music industry around 19 years roughly. I've been active on social media for say, 12 years. I get so much positivity overall, say 99.9% of it. But one fuckwit can write something to just trigger me and just ruin my day! It gets easier but it still sucks.

Here's a note to my free tweeting colleagues. It would be better to put all that energy spent on critiquing other artists music you don't like, into making the sickest game changing music yourself and moving things forward how you can! Be the right kind of noise

Music making is such a weirdly stupid and frustrating skill. I just spent months going though various different micro variations of exactly the same idea, trying to make it 'perfect'. Weeks of work. Gave up for a sec, started something new, finished it in 4hrs. It bangs. wtf

100 million. Mad. I remember being nervous about releasing this one because it was less ‘club forward’ than the other stuff I was releasing around this time. I decided to not send it to any DJ’s at all as I thought they’d hate it, but I loved the song regardless and wanted….

The older I get, the more positive I try to be, but I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart, I fucking detest celery.

My first show in March to cancel for Covid was the 2 shrine shows in LA. If I'm not the 1st artist to play when it opens up again I'll be gutted. Just putting that out into the world.

I’m currently living what I dreamt of as a kid. I’m dreaming today of what tomorrow will look like. I’m not 100% convinced about manifestation but I am convinced about my own intent and how it affects my future, I DO intend to do what seems almost impossible today. Dream big.

Anyone else stressed up to the tits with everything going on at the moment? Please remember, no matter what is going on, take a moment to breathe. Sounds simple right? It is really. 3 seconds in, 3 seconds hold, 3 seconds out. Try it for a minute or 2. It may help.

Anyway, I'm a week away from turning 40 years old. I'm one of those people that reflects rather than celebrates birthdays so I guess I'm in a very reflective mood, but still, all I want to say is thank you for helping make this DJ a very happy man this week. Chris.

I’m surprised to say it, but from a show point of view, this summer is turning out to be WAAAAAAAAY less shit than I thought it would be at the beginning of the year. Fuck yeah. We dancin’

Cant believe it’s been 5 years already since we released #HOWSLA… Ill never forget calling me in January 2017 asking me to help him put together this album, showcasing exciting new ideas in house. One of my favorite projects to date to be involved in … :)
