You beat me to it...
Agreed! Perhaps it would be newsworthy if a man wore a kilt or, heaven forbid, a tan suit.
Coquitlam mayor wore same suit for 15 months to make a point. No one noticed.https://theprovince.com/life/relationships/coquitlam-mayor-on-sexist-scrutiny-he-wore-the-same-suit-for-more-than-a-year-before-someone-noticed …
Waiting for the article about how men overcompensate by wearing extra-long ties.
The article never talked about their fashion for "the sake fashion" itself, but as a way to make subtle political and cultural statements. And fashion-wise too, these women standout because they have dumped the boring "masculine suit" tradition. This adds color to the house!
To be fair: it’s written by the WaPo’s fashion critic. So, literally her only job. Absolutely a double standard used to belittle female politicians, but you’re in the fashion section of the news. Only so many articles you can write about Mitch McConnell’s Kohl’s 2-piece.
Good to call it out Chris. I think in 2015 the press started to report on the "cat walk" of downing street but they didn't really dare again...
I disagree. The bright, interesting clothing of Democratic women displayed their diversity & confidence. No need for blue/black suit or dreaded pantsuit. These women are here to get a job done & they are dressing for themselves. Refreshing!
Oh no, you missed the point. This was about these women representing their heritage, power or right to stand as representatives. I thought it was incredible.
The two mile red tie is just one but lets not mention Trump fashion
I noticed that the video on CNNs website within the first 30 seconds referred to her dress as a raspberry dress, very weird to mention when she'd just been given such an important role
Thank you.
Well said. Sick of this crap.
Love love love your hair!
Oddly enough I was just about to comment on the President’s podium crew. Great shoes. Nice tie. And are those brass knuckles?pic.twitter.com/DRvRLb4CGQ
