In the last 2 days Austin police have injured 2 people & killed 1 in 2 separate shootings. The victim was unarmed in the 1st shooting. Both shootings come on the heels of yet another damning & disgusting report on the APD training academy's culture of violence & hazing. New cadet classes aren't funded in FY 2021 (thru September), but there's been talk of trying to find the money to restart them sooner. This latest report confirms what we've been hearing from ex-cadets for years, justifies the academy shutdown & demands that it remain shutdown.
I'm afraid this is going to get ugly.
The 1st was shot in the leg (by SWAT--trained to shoot mid mass--so someone f'd up) AFTER being tased (weren't tasers to avoid shootings?) and the 2nd was shot/killed for checking on whether his infant was okay after a maniac shot into his car. :-(
