    The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle () is a book I never would have read if I hadn't found it recommended in a tiny indy bookshop in SFO, and that would have been a shame as it's an exquisite probing of what makes us unique humans

    I collect my tasks on a to-do list with a deadline set for the Monday of the week I want/need to do the work, then every Monday I move the to-dos onto my calendar for that week...

    If you want to take control of your priorities, use a calendar and not a to-do list.

    I recently read Build Your Community () by and really enjoyed it. A good mix of strategy and tactics, its a great practical primer on building an online community from scratch, and then successfully managing it.

    General lack of technical aptitude and interest (especially as it applies to ) among the people of the world is truly the Achilles heel of all . And not just , it feels very similar to the lack of mass adoption.

    BTW - this (Algorithms to Live By) was a great follow up read after finishing NOISE - because using algorithms, even simple ones, can greatly reduce noise (variance) in decision making!

    Noise: A Flaw in Human Judgment () points out that noise (variance in judgement) is just as troublesome as bias (directional error) and therefor needs to be addressed just as urgently if we are to make better decisions.

    My eldest and I are reading the Dune series together. We just finished Dune Messiah (), aka book 2, last month. It's a solid sequel and a satisfying slow burn. We're a few chapters into book 3 now and loving it.
