@RonanFarrow went with a single sourced story....1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

No. That’s not what Ronan did. Information already had been leaked. Ronan got the leaker to talk about their motives, and was able to detail more facts about the leak. Even within his story, he explored (w other sources) alternative possible causes that would lead to those facts.

There was a single source as to "the SARs were missing" who suggested wrongdoing... there was nothing corroborating that account.

I wasn't referring to the underlying leaking

That source *was* the leaker. The leaker was providing Ronan with an explanation of their motives. Jason’s story is what the people are saying actually happened. They’re two different stories doing two different things.

I understand that. I guess reporting on leaker's motives w/o verifying if malicious acts did/didn't occur, like buzzfeed apparently did w/in 24 hrs, seems problematic. I know farrow mentions other possibilities but got buried under the "records destroyed" framing.

That’s not at all how I read it, but I can’t control how others react to stories — let alone stories that I played no role in (either Ronan’s or Jason’s), so I’m gonna step back from the discussion. I think we’ve made our points.
