This Giuliani interview is something else. Wonder if Emmet Flood is watching.https://twitter.com/yashar/status/991848566187421696 …

This "follow up" makes no sense — and is backing everyone into a corner somehow. Was Cohen acting alone, paying out of his own money, and was later repaid, or was it an authorized settlement, in which case Cohen wouldn't have paid it out of his own funds in the first place?https://twitter.com/rebeccaballhaus/status/991872529600950272 …

Returning to the idea that Rudy "says they discussed his revelation of the reimbursements long in advance." If so, why wouldn't they have told Hannity to help him prepare better? He had to come back to the topic to try and "clarify" things, unsuccessfully.

Giuliani tells me Trump agreed to pay Cohen $35,000 a month over a year-long period that began in the 1st quarter of 2017 & carried into 2018. That is how the $130K was repaid, Giuliani says, adding, "I'm almost certain that there wasn't an itemized bill."https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/rudy-giuliani-says-trump-repaid-michael-cohen-for-the?utm_term=.koEegJ7xY#.plb5P2lwb …

UPDATE: Read my interview with Rudy Giuliani about what the heck he was saying in that Sean Hannity interview about Trump repaying Michael Cohen for his payment to Stormy Daniels. https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/rudy-giuliani-says-trump-repaid-michael-cohen-for-the?utm_term=.ei0J3XReE#.ellgqxjaE …pic.twitter.com/uRyChGtex1

Giuliani tell me that it “clearly was a payment to reimburse expenses" — while acknowledging, “I’m almost certain that there wasn’t an itemized bill.”https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/rudy-giuliani-says-trump-repaid-michael-cohen-for-the?utm_term=.gyWz2MEk3#.icBxO1DPo …

Calling it "a payment to remove personal embarrassment to Melania [Trump]," Giuliani told me of the 2016 payment to Stormy Daniels: “I don't think they thought about it as a campaign thing” — although he acknowledged that others might disagree.https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/rudy-giuliani-says-trump-repaid-michael-cohen-for-the?utm_term=.gyWz2MEk3#.icBxO1DPo …

Trump paid Cohen because he didn't know anything about the hush money but was in a generous mood one day and said, Michael, take this, it's for something you'll do for me some future day because I know you're such a great person.

What’s the over/under on this having any lasting impact on Trump at all?

I don't see how this is bad for Trump, seems this is the line he should have taken long ago but he never lied under oath about it AFAIK.

Ok. You can’t make a payment to a campaign > $2,500. You can’t fail to disclose campaign expenditures (& hard to argue this isn’t one when you’re using your offices in Trump Org to facilitate it). You can’t lie about the purpose of a loan. You can’t structure payments.

That’s campaign finance law violations, money laundering, and bank fraud. And Trump knew about it.
