Orders from #SCOTUS are expected at 9:30a Monday. No opinions are expected Monday (or at all this week), meaning we'll be going into May with 39 cases outstanding: 5 from Oct-Nov-Dec arguments; 14 from Jan-Feb; and 20 from Mar-Apr.

The court aims to release all decisions by the end of June, and they give no advance notice of what cases are coming down when. Normally, the biggest cases come near the end — so, late June — but that's not a rule; it's just generally what happens!

The timing, by the most generous reading of things, comes down to the fact that the most complex and controversial cases lead to the most divided decisions, and it takes the justices time to get their varying opinions — majority, concurring, and dissenting — all ready to go.
