Gene Schaerr entered an appearance on behalf of the Family Research Council tonight in Doe v. Trump — the DC trans ban case, where the plaintiffs are trying to force FRC and Heritage to turn over documents about the process behind the ban.

Schaerr had been a partner at Winston & Strawn until he left to represent Utah in its defense of its marriage ban. Then, he started a more ideological boutique firm with Kyle Duncan, who’s now up for a 5th Circuit judgeship.
