Most states will not conduct executions with pending stay requests, but some states, like Alabama, require what is, in effect, a temporary stay because they will proceed with an execution in the absence of a legal stay order.

After reading all documents, I have to say, I wonder why the prison sentence wasn't sufficient punishment. Would the decision have been different, if the person in question was white? That is a rhetorical question.
