Here is W's statement from the time: "The consequences of his felony conviction on his former life as a lawyer, public servant, and private citizen will be long-lasting." https://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2007/07/20070702-3.html …pic.twitter.com/cyJU7FRBSH
Note that Libby's conviction was the result of an earlier special counsel: Patrick Fitzgerald. Note how W. talked about him:pic.twitter.com/fqsEAHwyIs
RE-UPPING —> The President Actually Has Enormous Power To Pardon Basically Whomever He Wantshttps://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/the-president-actually-has-enormous-power-to-pardon?utm_term=.xeaOrJjeo …
Update: There is no petition seeking a pardon for Scooter Libby on file with the Justice Department’s Pardon Attorney, a DOJ spokesperson tells me. This means that if it is being considered, it is not going through the normal process.
God it’s a good thing Charles Manson is dead, taking one less terrible pardon opportunity off the table
Remember where Libby really stands at this point, effectively fully restored, and realize how asinine this is.
You know Trump's not doing this out of the kindness of his heart.
Busting out the Pardon Pen before they take it away at the Federal Pen
@realdonaldtrump proves each day how corrupt he is.
On the scale of damage, this is probably pretty low relative to this term.
He’s sending a message that it’s ok to lie to the FBI!
I think I heard someone say comey had something to do with the initial conviction. not sure if that’s true but if so it adds a certain something. also both t's pardons so far have been for actions against the legal system (perjury & contempt.) a window on how he sees legal system
Can Libby reject the pardon? Wouldn't getting a pardon now put him in a worse position in that he would admit being guilty?
Because we hate leakers and those who obstruct investigation into leaks. Very bad leak. Terrible ????
Sending a message
Of *course* he is.
