The Special Counsel's Office declined to comment on the NYT report. Michael Cohen's lawyer, per the NYT, says the Special Counsel's Office referred the matter to the US Attorney's Office in Manhattan. The US Attorney's Office in Manhattan (SDNY) also declined to comment.https://twitter.com/csmcdaniel/status/983434457993695232 …

OK, I'm home now, and I added more information to explain ~why it matters~ that Geoffrey Berman is a Sessions-appointed — and not Trump-nominated/Senate-confirmed — US attorney: https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/federal-agents-seize-communications-of-trumps-personal?utm_term=.ogxBRYzLq#.py0na32XQ …pic.twitter.com/1nQHoNobaL

A Sessions appointee who was personally interviewed by Trump.
-
Yes, but he’s not a Trump appointee. Let’s just be clear!
-
This is some high level pointless hair splitting.

That is most disingenuous - it's the common shorthand that you've used before: "And also similar to Yates, he was an Obama appointee..."https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/acting-attorney-general-orders-justice-department-not-to-def?utm_term=.meb91A8jg0#.ijNXlpG6Bb …
-
Wrong. Those were Obama appointees. They were nominated by Obama and confirmed by the Senate. That is NOT the case with Berman. Yes, he was interviewed by Trump — but he was never nominated. Instead, Sessions appointed him under specific statutory authority.
-
And WHO does Sessions serve at the pleasure of?.....

Was gonna let it go but u got snarky. Trump interviewed GB for USA. Why important? B/c presidents don't interview USAs. & did he interview all 45 USAs? No, he interviewed 2 for NY & 1 for DC. I wonder why. Your approach which separates 45 from GB aids "deep state" conspiracies
-
And you deciding to ignore facts and criticize corrections to those facts is disappointing. I explained to you precisely how it was not at all the same shorthand I've used before. Feel free to unfollow if you're just concerned with scoring political points.

LOL, no I think you're a great legal reporter. Never in my life did I think a discussion re "Sessions appointee" v. "Trump appointee" would go so off the rails. Have a great week!
