JUST IN: Paul Manafort's lawyer in his DC criminal case, at almost 10:30 pm tonight, filed a request to have an extension of the weekend and Monday to file his motion to suppress the evidence obtained by Mueller's team.pic.twitter.com/jAWDfUHvUs

The outside of one of the boxes that was in the storage unit, per the application for a search warrant:pic.twitter.com/N0y2BXyAJH
Love the excitement for a 4a story, tbh.
HERE IT IS —> Manafort Says The FBI's Search Of A Storage Unit Was Illegal, Wants Evidence Tossedhttps://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/paul-manafort-says-the-fbi-illegally-searched-a-storage?utm_term=.gqv8nXER6 …
Color me skeptical of the argument made by Manafort's lawyers in their late Friday night filing: https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/paul-manafort-says-the-fbi-illegally-searched-a-storage?utm_term=.hlb6rQ5E8#.frvYvn1a3 …pic.twitter.com/OhQrCFVA6a
I don't think this gets suppressed but notably ownership etc seems missing from the facts of stated. If the dmp employee had access to the space and willingly let the agent in, his "level" is irrelevant. Getting the warrant was just covering ones bases.
If the employee had common authority to access the storage unit then the search was not warrantless and the fruits are not of the poisonous tree. The agent clearly sought a warrant for items which the employee wouldn't have common authority (ie boxes etc)
That storage unit is intriguing
She seemed mad at them earlier this week.
She is always mad at them because they are sloppy, arrogant and all around shitty lawyers.
It couldn't happen to a more deserving guy than Manafort. Manafort enabled kleptocrats throughout his long despicable career i.e the despots of the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, Somalia and the Marcos' to name a few. https://cloudfront-files-1.publicintegrity.org/legacy_projects/pdf_reports/THETORTURERSLOBBY.pdf …
But the attorney can still bill the hours!
There's personal shit in that locker no doubt. Manafort has a....complicated.....personal life
He didn’t file the motion?? Then they just posted the PDF to the internet and that’s it?? Great lawyering!
Notwithstanding, I can’t imagine the judge denying the request, though I’m shocked that they made such a last minute request without explanation or opposing counsel’s consent. Has anyone checked the judge’s individual rules re extension requests?
Has there been any statement or other information as to how long Manafort has had this storage locker? If it was recently rented, that might be all the more reason to think it contained ... intriguing ... contents that Manafort wanted out of his home.
Truly remarkable, and certainly smells of something.pic.twitter.com/36Z5Png7nM
