JUST IN: Paul Manafort's lawyer in his DC criminal case, at almost 10:30 pm tonight, filed a request to have an extension of the weekend and Monday to file his motion to suppress the evidence obtained by Mueller's team.pic.twitter.com/jAWDfUHvUs

JUST IN: Paul Manafort's lawyer files a motion seeking to suppress evidence obtained from a storage unit, but not his residence. https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/4433457-Motion-to-Suppress-Storage-Locker.html …pic.twitter.com/KrU2hhCKMu
This possibility was noted by @joshgerstein earlier, and I meant to add that tweet to this thread!https://twitter.com/joshgerstein/status/982446563539800064 …
Also: In a sign that he was rushed, Manafort's lawyer misspelled "SUPRESS" in the caption of the filing. :-(pic.twitter.com/tP0AUzVzBs
It is after midnight, and Judge Amy Berman Jackson did not rule on Manafort's request for an extension of time to file a motion to suppress regarding the search of the residence. Nor did his lawyer file such a motion. So, in theory, it's now out of time.

Love the excitement for a 4a story, tbh.
HERE IT IS —> Manafort Says The FBI's Search Of A Storage Unit Was Illegal, Wants Evidence Tossedhttps://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/paul-manafort-says-the-fbi-illegally-searched-a-storage?utm_term=.gqv8nXER6 …
Color me skeptical of the argument made by Manafort's lawyers in their late Friday night filing: https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/paul-manafort-says-the-fbi-illegally-searched-a-storage?utm_term=.hlb6rQ5E8#.frvYvn1a3 …pic.twitter.com/OhQrCFVA6a
Yep better to take the late filling than hand Manafort an issue on appeal. I'd make them sweat it out over the weekend though rather than ruling sooner.
Mueller must have gotten something important from the house search as the proposed Order only addresses that. Also there is no apparent reason to extend if the challenge is to the “ four corners” of the warrant. Challenge based on extraneous information? Monday will tell.
Respectfully... deadlines are the bread and butter of journalists.. Surely at this level of the judicial process, they too, must be honored and met.
Could this be tied with Nunes wanting to read the files regarding the investigation that started it off.
Chris, you are highly appreciated !
She would be foolish imo to deny the extension. IF the mot to suppress is meritorious & the illegally obtained evid convicts him AND then he appeals based on the ineffective assistance of counsel, Judge Jackson’s strict adherence to the time table would have been unfortunate.
This reeks of state appeals practice. I don't think they knew they had till the end for this as they do in federal
The interesting part is usually these extensions are just agreed upon between the lawyers (and then presented as an agreed order; the judge could still deny the motion). Clearly not the case here.
I concur.
