About the AG-in-waiting theory: Yes, it’s possible, but there’s no reason to believe Trump would actually ~need~ Pruitt for the role — unless there’s already some tacit (or actual, who knows) agreement that he would do “what needs to be done” if Trump decides to fire Sessions.

Is that why he’s keeping him around? Possible, though I don’t think so. Walt’s point as I understood it — and the point I was making — is more about the others, beyond Trump himself, and why ~they~ are not being more critical of Pruitt, let alone calling for his resignation.

Pruitt is still around, in my estimation, for the same reason the judicial nominees are, by and large, a FedSoc convention’s dreamcasting: Trump knows judges and deregulation are what keep him in with the Republican Party, so he will do all he can to keep those going.

FWIW, I don’t. (See thread above, from last night.)https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/982268230306709509?s=21 …

You asked for alternate explanations. NY Magazine wrote a similar assessment.http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2018/04/trump-cant-decide-whether-to-fire-pruitt-or-promote-him.html …

That’s an article; Seth’s ramblings — which have much wrong in the first four tweets of that thread and I stopped reading — are not. (I’ve explained why I don’t think that’s the reason in response to my original tweet.)

Maybe the Trump wants him as AG theory just a tiny bit too
-
I still don’t believe that, tbh. But, who knows.

Really don't know what to believe when it comes to Trump's actions, but that was the only other thing I've seen that is remotely plausible.

Pruitt is a trustee of the largest Southern Baptist Seminary. Someone needs to write about that connection before Mohler makes it disappear. There is a religious connection here.

We’ve reached a point where the left attacks anyone aggressively working to implement POTUS agenda for the people. POTUS and the people aren’t listening to you!

But if he fires Sessions Pruitt would be an obvious choice: already confirmed, a former AG and no morals.
