I just read A Little Life two weeks ago! Not helpful, tho. The Marriage Plot is great coming of age; some fav sad reads are Tender Is The Night and A Fan's Notes. Guessing you've read Giovanni's Room and A Home At The End of the World...

Yes Giovanni’s, no Home! Will add to list. I liked beautiful and damned and Paridise better than Tender in college maybe I should give it a reread.

Also, I didn't love Tender Is The Night OR Woolf's To The Lighthouse the first time I sort of read them, then came back later and absolutely loved them.

Home at the End of the World has some incredibly beautiful parts to it. I love all of Michael Cunningham’s words, though.
