KEY from
@woodruffbets, though, actually is this: "[C]ontrary to recent media reports, Gates is not about to make a deal with the special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources familiar with the matter."13 replies 59 retweets 127 likesShow this thread -
So, it is key to know the what, where, when, and why of the breakdown in negotiations. It's entirely possible that CNN, LAT, and DB stories were accurate when published.

JUST IN (and contra Daily Beast): Tom Green just entered an appearance in the DC case as Rick Gates' lawyer. Green then filed a notice Gates does not oppose his other lawyers withdrawing from the case.pic.twitter.com/LZmnVRyb0M

UPDATE: Asked to confirm that he is representing Rick Gates — and about the Daily Beast reporting that he was fired, Tom Green tells me, "It is ludicrous and I am representing him."

While it is possible that a decision has been made to replace Green — although he tells me the firing claim is "ludicrous" — he is still representing Gates, so he has not been fired. https://twitter.com/woodruffbets/status/966813036395794432 …

Time will tell in this battle of the journalistic megastars, but you can definitely be "fired" by your client before you are formally relieved as attorney of record.

Absolutely. Per this, however, he ~entered an appearance~ after being fired. Which is the opposite of having to wait to withdraw as attorney of record. (And he said, on the record, that the reporting that he was fired was "ludicrous.")

To me "firing" issue comes down to whether Gates has, or hasn't, communicated to Green he's being replaced in next few days. Judge may have insisted an appearance be entered so the old attys aren't left on the hook any longer, although that's just speculation on my part.

I get the argument, and, ultimately, I guess it comes down to whether Green was lying to me on the record or whether Betsy's unnamed sources were overstating things or lying to her.

Always hate to see the Buckeyes get a W but I guess that's how this one goes down. Wonder if someone misled
