[More to come on this, obviously. Just wanted to get the map out as quickly as I could!]

So how does it look now?!? ”Under the challenged map, only 5 of the state's 18 congressional districts are represented by Democrats — despite the fact that registered Democrats outnumber Republicans in the swing state.”
-
Um. We don't know. There haven't been elections yet?
-
Is there no way to know if the new map is better distributed?
-
There's more in the story now, but representation won't be clear until we know candidates, hold primaries, and keep moving forward closer to the elections. By definition, with less gerrymandering, things will be less clear and dependent on candidates and, well, the voters.
-
Thank you sir! “"Dems have a good chance in up to 11 [congressional districts] & an outside chance at a 12th seat in Erie," Cook Political Report's Dave Wasserman tweeted about the new map.”

I know it's no guarantee against gerrymandering, but I think all states' congressional maps should be designed to combine the greatest population parity with the shortest aggregate district borders.
-
It’s a good starting point but really there is no foolproof rule I’ve started gravitating to proportional representation (within each state and each state’s representatives). So no more districts. Not perfect but better than what we have had.

John Oliver had a great show on this. Pack the votes/similar people too much=bad Spread the votes/similar people too much=bad Above my pay grade. All I know is it shouldn’t be done for partisan benefit. Competitive districts are good for America.
