Seeing @RaulEEsparza singing “Pity the Child” at CHESS tonight hit me hard. It was a great performance of a song that I’ve held inside me since I was a closeted teen in Youngstown, Ohio. ... It was one of several musicals that I learned about through one of my mom’s friends.

I think I was probably in that mindset because of
@rilaws’ piece from earlier this week, to be honest. It made me think a lot about the ups and downs of coming out in the mid-90s — and what my world was like once I realized I likely was gay but wasn’t yet out.Show this thread -
To follow that up so quickly with seeing “Pity the Child” incredibly performed was just like a ton of bricks. ... Anyway, theater is amazing, and so is figure skating. Art and artistry are gifts, and thank goodness for all those who are encouraged to cultivate their gifts.

Here are my earlier tweets about the
@kencen performance, which is just going on (and already sold out) this week. If you’re going, you’re in for a treat.https://twitter.com/chrisgeidner/status/963937801346707457 …

Anyway, that was lovely. ... Night, all, and let us try to be good to one another — and ourselves.
