Regarding the NYT report, Trump’s outside lawyer, John Dowd, doesn’t say much, telling me only: “The active discussions between the OSC and the President’s personal lawyers regarding how and under what terms information will be exchanged are understandably private.”

The only thing I’d really take from that is that Trump’s legal team is, at the least, not ready to make an explicit, on-the-record statement of where they’re at — perhaps in part reflective of the Dowd-Cobb disagreement suggested in the NYT story.

probably preferable to take a shot at being able to delay or even prevail in front of the Supreme Court than submitting their completely unreliable client to an interview.

The inner-core? Don Jr. coughed up his own emails. 3/4 of DJT's core responded to a fake email account. They're either incredibly stupid, or true believers, but they believe it. The rest are merely power-hungry sycophants who don't fully realize how culpable they may be.

It makes sense strategically even if they don't. They have a better chance of quashing a subpoena than they do of controlling their client in an interview.

Letting Trump talk to Mueller would be a disaster. Stonewalling and hoping for a completely partisan SCOTUS decision has better odds.
