I don't know about what technicalities are involved, but there is no pdf order for application denials that have no opinion and are not referred to the full court to my knowledge. They're just the one sentence on the docket.

What I meant was: Single-justice orders do get PDFs sometimes.
Yes, I know that. That's why I wrote something specific! (I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just cover applications constantly, and so I was referring to a specific situation — which happened here — and the consistent practice of the court in that instance is no PDF order.)
I know that you know your stuff about applications. The broader point, PDF or not, is that the public has no way of knowing what Justice Alito did in a very high-profile case unless they went to the case docket. Which most don’t know how to locate.
