This is the right move. Even if you generously assume that the US Gymnastics board didn't know what was going on, they're guilty of extreme negligence. I'm glad the USOC is taking a strong stance on this.

Would love to know what USOC is doing about their own role in enabling USAG's negligence over the course of decades in protecting athletes.
-
One thing at a time
-
No, I think it's pretty important that institutions up and down the chain each look immediately at their own role in enabling Nassar and ensuring that it is not happening to other athletes and that it can not happen again.

Guess things got a little hot in USOC office lately. "USA Gymnastics and the US Olympic Committee have been quick to capitalize on and celebrate my success. But did they reach out when I came forward? No." - Aly Raisman

No, this is incredibly disappointing & inadequate. This letter is a joke & a slap in the face to the victims that spoke this past week & all who have gone unheard. The letter says uses the word “shocking” in describing the current events with Nassar, YOU KNEW. FIRE THEM ALL
-
USOC doesn't run USA Gymnastics. This is really the extent of what they can do.
-
The letter itself is disingenuous and whether or not USOC runs USA Gymnastics, their response (and lack thereof for years) has set an awful precedent. They could absolutely do more, they’re choosing not to.
-
What would you want the letter to say? They are demanding resignation and if unheeded will render them obsolete.
-
USOC knew not only about the sexual molestation of gymnasts but also the similar atrocities occurring in the competitive swimming world. After ignoring the facts for years, they now issue this letter deflecting blame & responsibility. Too little too late.
-
They are fully aware their day will come with regard to an investigation. Would you prefer they didn’t initiate this action? Of course they are not blameless. Far from it. Neither is the University.
-
Right. The university, the USOC, and US Gymnastics are all to blame, that’s a given. Of course they needed to initiate something but I was hopeful it would have been a significantly stronger stance and addressing their fault and their plan for their organization as well.
-
That will likely come from outside, I wouldn’t hold your breath in them taking blame.

Are they going to take their own advice? USOC is complicit, too.

Resign. Be banned from sporting. And then be prosecuted, as appropriate. That's how you respond to the worst sexual predation case in history.

Let's not give usoc too much credit here. It was at their official training camp in Texas that an unlicensed nassar assaulted many young women
