Sexist much?

I’m legitimately confused by the responses to this tweet. It wasn’t a negative thing. To the extent it was anything, I thought it might be seen as “too positive” b/c I thought it made clear I think she is sounding like someone making her mark on the national stage.
-
When you single out ambitious, high achieving women, considering the history of criticism and long odds they have faced in the past, especially in the political arena, it can easily come off as sexist and targeted.
-
I was not poking fun at anything. I thought they were self-assured comments from someone who came across to me as nearly ready to launch a presidential run. My intent was to highlight her comments, not attack them.
-
Well often times the brevity of twitter doesn't allow for that sort of nuance. As you can see by the responses, many people took it the latter way.
-
I know. Clearly I would rather not have spent the past two hours explaining things, so I will try to tweet more carefully and clearly in the future.

People interpreted your tweet as a negative one. And it's a reasonable interpretation. Stop gaslighting people. If you meant something "positive," then say exactly what you meant.
-
I’m not “gaslighting” people, and many of the people who saw the tweet took it exactly how I meant it, so, no.
-
What did you mean? Please explain.

YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY REPORT HER COMMENTS. YOU JUST MOCKED THEM. You relayed literally none of her words, none of her actions during the exchange. So how is that "highlighting" them?
-
I wasn’t mocking, regardless of if you put it in all caps or not. If you don’t want me to believe you, you need not do so. You don’t follow me, so you have no understanding of my history or approach to writing, reporting, analysis, Twitter, etc. I can only tell you what I have.

I hope you’re coming from a genuine place and not a snarky, corporate-funded political press and sexist place.

Look at the political press’ coverage. Booker is a hero and Harris barely gets a mention. By your reply, I hope and/or it’s good to see that you are one of the few in your profession covering and commenting on substance over theatrical action. Thanks and I stand corrected. ...

I truly was not poking fun at anything. I thought they were self-assured comments from someone who came across to me as nearly ready to launch a presidential run. My intent was to highlight her comments, not attack them.

It sounds like you are poking fun at her ambition, which is an insult that has negative gender connotations. People are mad because we thought of you as a good guy who wouldn't stoop to that
