Yeah, I was just under the age of really focusing on it all, but I remember it as being a strange, unbelievable whole thing.

As someone who's been in an abusive relationship, it was deeply disturbing
-
It really was. It also spoke when she said, “Instead of my husband or mother abusing me, the whole world was.”
-
Yes, it really felt to me more like the humor was taken not as the movie poking fun, but as the characters’ own coping mechanisms.
-
I think the most uncomfortable thing abut it was just how real a lot of the abuse was. In many scenes there was no big build up, it just happened for no reason.

As a former competitive figure skater, I was expecting the same and was unexpectedly surprised (in a good way) by this film. The cinematography was really well done and
@AllisonBJanney was MARVELOUS. An Oscar-winning performance.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

It seemed tragic to me too; the people next to me kept laughing and I thought "are we watching the same movie?"

Oh! Sounds like Eyes of Tammy Faye. And Tonya’s story is tragic in many ways.
