Today marks three-quarters of a decade — 7.5 years — since I last had a drink. A reality that happens day by day, but, nonetheless, one that I never could have imagined ever being ~my~ reality.pic.twitter.com/CWTZSaPdDQ

I think I’m mainly just grateful that I found my way to sobriety. This year — like many years before and since I got sober — has been filled with examples of people whose fight with addiction has led to horrible circumstances or even death. They all could have been me.
I manage to screw enough up in sobriety — I falter at being the person I want to be daily — that I know that the path my life would have taken without getting sober would have been disastrous — or deadly. It’s as simple as that.
But here I am, blessed to be living a life that was unimaginable to me when I was growing up in Ohio, let alone when my drinking got bad.
It felt somewhat appropriate that I got to spend half of my day today in Ohio, with family, and then come back here to this city I love.pic.twitter.com/u9sYTaXGWT
I got to spend this past several days with one of the people who thankfully has never seen me drunk — and who truly makes me want to be the best person that I can be.pic.twitter.com/UDT54p3tUm
I got to spend time with my mom, who has seen me drunk, and has been through that and so much more — but is always there, and for that I’m forever grateful.pic.twitter.com/1l1p15YsOa
And, I got to play HQ Trivia with my siblings. (Because, I get to live my best life now — MEANING SOMEDAY I WILL WIN!)pic.twitter.com/hkdr9qw7W2
Alas, no! Was busy and didn’t even play.
I played for the first time last night. Seems like a fun game
