It's been more than 24 hours since the 4th Circuit denied DOJ's stay request to stop the Jan. 1 deadline for allowing transgender military recruits — https://www.buzzfeed.com/chrisgeidner/appeals-court-denies-trump-admins-request-to-delay-jan-1?utm_term=.qqkOXV506#.itNAY3mqN … — and there's still no word of any further stay requests to #SCOTUS (or en banc).

Pentagon spokesperson tells me: "The DoD is preparing to access transgender applicants beginning Jan 1 in accordance with the federal court ruling." — but has not confirmed whether that means there are no further stay requests coming. DOJ won't say either.

If there is no further action to stay the district court injunction in Stone v. Trump, that would mean the Jan. 1 date would stand — and trans people could seek to join the military starting in the new year (if they meet the criteria laid out by the military).

In the meantime, do read @dominicholden's story on one of the people seeking to join up:https://www.buzzfeed.com/dominicholden/this-transgender-man-is-trying-to-enlist-in-the-military-on?utm_term=.srBxrpM5b#.cqrDLMGK4 …
