To be clear, there’s a wide range of reporting outside of “exhaustive investigative reporting” that is not “punditry” — and much of which is essential to understanding what’s going on with a race.

Additionally, getting a big story like the Post did in Moore’s race involves understanding the ground — and, oftentimes, reporting out many stories that go nowhere.

So, I probably this’d that tweet a little too quickly. I think there’s a bit more nuance behind what we want to see — multiple, sometimes overlapping things — than just to say “investigative” good, “punditry” bad.
