Yeah, THE SHAPE OF WATER and BPM are my two favorite films so far this year. They’re so very different — but both hit me with feelings that I just couldn’t shake, even after leaving the theater and returning home.
I’m so excited for it. He’s always interesting, but this looks like something closer to the alchemy of Pan’s Labrynth (one of my top 3 of the 2000’s)... or am I getting my hopes up TOO high?

I saw! It just - I mean, “Pan’s” was on a whole other level for me, that blend of beauty, horror, mythology, and allegory that stabs at the heart of man’s capacity for evil... I’m sure I’ll love it if it’s even half as great. But you’re saying it’s AS incredible?
I’d need to see it again. It’s different. It’s fantasy — but less fantastical. Which is more compelling in a sense.
