It's notable that, after Gorsuch, Trump's first judicial nominee was actually announced by McConnell — it was someone the senator long had backed, Judge Thapar from Kentucky.https://www.buzzfeed.com/zoetillman/mitch-mcconnell-announced-trumps-first-lower-court-nominee?utm_term=.osQmRwyDN#.obZ3PnVx8 …
The Federalist Society has a wide range of views within its membership — I watched disagreements over marriage and the like — and I think many members are uncomfortable with and have even spoken out against certain Trump actions.
But, seeing the excitement at the Mayflower today (and seeing the reports from Union Station tonight) is a sign that the Federalist Society is excited about at least one aspect of the Trump presidency: judges.
And, the circle is complete:https://twitter.com/ZoeTillman/status/931354663361875968 …
Besides judges, the other main aspect of the Trump administration most favored by the Federalist Society likely is its efforts to reverse Obama era regulations.
Another BIG opponent of the regulatory state: Justice Neil Gorsuch.https://twitter.com/GregStohr/status/931360771686223872 …

I bet McConnell reminds himself of that every time Trump tweets something stupid.
Sure, Trump may get us all killed but at least we’ll have Brett Talley on the District Court.
"addressing"
So what are their judicial aims? What do we have to look forward to- overturning Roe v Wade. Return to legalized segregation? An end to recent efforts at sentencing reform?
Pretty sure there’s no conservative jurist in the country who wants a return of segregation and a very, very few who even think Brown was wrongly decided.
My only hope is that Donnie's judicial nominees are as ethical & intelligent as he is.
And someone is watching them very closely.
